YUCCA VALLEY AND TWENTYNINE PALMS GIRLS BASKETBALL BOTH WIN FIRST-ROUND CIF PLAYOFFS

The Yucca Valley Lady Trojan basketball team notched a 56-33 first round Division 4AA CIF playoff win over Ganesha High School last night in Trojan Gym. Coach Jess Geeson said the Yucca Valley girls jumped to a 29-13 halftime lead. Leading the Lady Trojans was sophomore Savannah Beasley with 21 points and five assists. Fellow sophomore Hannah Hovious had a solid game with 11 points and six rebounds while senior September Shaw-Fryer came off the bench to add six points and 11 rebounds.

The win sends the girls to play the Division 4AA #4 ranked Duarte High School Falcons Saturday night at in a second round game. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
 
The Twentynine Palms Girls’ basketball team won their first round playoff game of St. Margaret’s of San Juan Capistrano on February 18, 85-33. Coach Tim Stanford said the Wildcats had four girls score in double figures including Lindsey Scamman with 18 points, Courtney Stanford and Tatiyanna Mackall both with 15 points, and Destiny Dedmon with 12 points. The ‘Cats travel to Whittier Christian to play their second round game Saturday, February 20.
