YUCCA VALLEY AND 29 PALMS OFFER TIPS FOR NATIONAL TEEN DRIVER SAFETY WEEK

This week is National Teen Driver Safety Week, and officials from Yucca Valley, Twentynine Palms and the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department want you to keep your young drivers safe. Here’s reporter Jef Harmatz with a few tips…

Did you know that teen drivers are four times as likely to be involved in a car accident than drivers in any other age group? That’s because they are inherently the least experienced drivers on the road. But parents and guardians can help instill confidence and good habits in young drivers by getting involved. Set firm rules for them, such as no phone use, always wearing a seatbelt and following the speed limit. Emphasize the importance of sobriety behind the wheel. And adults should always lead by example, making a point to demonstrate and discuss these rules when in the car with young drivers. During this National Teen Driver Safety Week, the best way to keep your teen safe behind the wheel is to talk with them.
