YUCCA MESA FIREFIGHTERS REPORT FIRE IN YUCCA VALLEY TUESDAY AFTERNOON

Yucca Mesa firefighters returning to Fire Station 42 from a training exercise in Yucca Valley Tuesday afternoon were the first to report a fire off Old Woman Springs Road. County Fire Captain Bryan Hoverman said they spotted the smoke coming from the wash behind the Circle K, just south of Sunnyslope, about 3:05 p.m. Hoverman said it took firefighters about 10 minutes to knock down a fire that was burning a large desert willow tree in the wash. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
