Registration for two youth basketball leagues opens today in Yucca Valley
The Yucca Valley youth basketball league is for boys and girls in grades three through eight. Registration for the league opens September 23 and goes through November 8, or until divisions are filled. Boys and girls play separately in three divisions: grades 3-4; grades 5-6; and grades 7-8. A mandatory evaluation clinic will be held at the Yucca Valley Boys and Girls Club on November 12 and 13. Players will practice weeknights beginning December 9; the games begin January 11. The registration fee of $75 includes a jersey, shorts, and photos. The cost for additional siblings is $65 each. Registration for Wee Hoops, a six-week basketball program for boys and girls in kindergarten through second grade, opens September 23. Classes start in January at the Boys and Girls Club in Yucca Valley, and participants can choose classes on Tuesdays or Thursdays, at 6:15 p.m. Kids will learn the fundamentals of basketball and play scrimmages. The $40 registration fee includes a T-shirt, photo, and a pizza party. Space is limited.
