Gallery 62 in downtown Joshua Tree is holding its third annual youth art show. The show features artists from kindergarten through eighth grade from throughout the Morongo Basin. The gallery is planning several events during the three weekends the show will be on display. During the opening weekend, the gallery will present awards to the student artists between noon and 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 6. An opening reception is set for Saturday, May 11, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. A silent art auction of art from local artists will be held during the reception, with the proceeds going to fund two college scholarships for graduating seniors. In addition, the students’ art is also for sale. The gallery is open Fridays and Sundays from noon to 3, and Saturdays 9 to 3. Gallery 62 is located on the highway in downtown Joshua Tree.
