YOU CAN HELP FIRE VICTIMS ACROSS THE STATE

1

Half a dozen fires are burning across California, and every day it seems like a new fire starts burning. People are losing their homes all across the state. Sara Snyder tells how you can help people who have lost everything they own…
Fires can destroy lives and livelihoods in the blink of an eye, regardless of whether they stay confined to one house or spread throughout a wide area. If you want to help, you can usually donate money, food, or supplies through the American Red Cross. When fire damage is widespread, the Red Cross will need both donations and volunteers. If you cannot donate money or supplies, donating your time is another option worth considering.
Think about donating to the area’s animal shelters. Many pets get lost and are picked up by local animal shelters. Donate to the local shelter to help them handle the influx of pets. Find your local Red Cross location at redcross.org, or call 800-RED-CROSS.
