YESTERDAY’S HIGH WINDS CAUSE DAMAGE IN MORONGO BASIN

Yesterday’s high winds caused some damage in the Morongo Basin. In Twentynine Palms, the wind sheered off a power line pole at its base about 8:30 a.m. in the 4700 block of Adobe Road. The power lines kept the pole from falling to the ground. Twentynine Palms Fire Captain Matt Helmkamp said one lane was blocked off until Southern California Edison could repair the power pole. The fire department also reports some trees blown over, and an awning that had been torn off and blown onto power lines. In Joshua Tree, one of the dinosaurs was also blown over by the high winds.
