The Town Council was presented with three options for the badly deteriorated Black Rock Canyon Road after accepting it into the Town’s maintained road system: Patch and pave it with asphalt for about $100,000, which won’t do anything to control the water drainage problem; reconstruct the road, complete with drainage improvements, for about $679,000; or prepare construction plans at a cost of about $50,000 to $60,000, so it’s shelf-ready and continue to seek grants to build the road. The Council voted to take money out of reserves to patch and pave the road for $100,000, AND directed staff to prepare shelf-ready construction plans to make the project more competitive for grants.
