Back in the 1960s, the Landers Postmistress Vernette Landers had a bobcat named Impy who lived to be 20 years old. Members of the Morongo Basin Woodcarvers Club carved profiles of Impy, which are on display at the Morongo Basin Historical Society’s museum on Landers Lane. The woodcarvers continue to meet from 9 a.m. to noon every Tuesday morning in the Ocotillo Room in the Yucca Valley Community Center.
