A Wonder Valley registered sex offender was arrested Tuesday after he was found with drugs. Just after 9 p.m., a deputy saw a car parked behind a closed grocery store near Encelia Avenue and Cactus Drive in Twentynine Palms. The driver, identified as Chad O’Connor, 35, said that he was trying to fix a part on his car’s engine. A records check of O’Connor found that he is on parole and is a registered sex offender. During a search of the vehicle, the deputy found seven to eight ounces of marijuana as well as methamphetamine and a scale. Chad O’Connor was arrested for investigation of being in possession of a controlled substance for sales, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $25,000.
