The annual fire assessment is not enough to sustain fire protection services in parts of Wonder Valley. Reporter Mike Lipsitz says the Local Agency Formation Commission and county fire chief will be at a community meeting Saturday morning to outline options for local residents…
Earlier this year, County Fire Division Chief John Chamberlin outlined four options for the future of fire protection services in Wonder Valley. Serious financial shortfalls make the current system untenable. A new plan must be in place by the start of the fiscal year July 1. One of the options under consideration is the dissolution of Fire Protection District 4, along with its $34.10 annual assessment. Representatives from the County’s Local Agency Formation Commission will hold a community meeting Saturday, April 23 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Wonder Valley Community Center on Amboy Road. They will discuss the process for dissolving FP4, and along with Chief Chamberlin, answer questions regarding the formation of a Community Service District, incorporating or other possibilities.
