WONDER VALLEY MEETING; FIRE PROTECTION COST, FOOD, AND ENERGY ASSISTANCE

For Wonder Valley residents the future is likely to see the cost of fire protection go up, while the cost of electricity may go down. Reporter Mike Lipsitz has details on the best way to find out about those issues and others…
At tomorrow’s 11 a.m. Wonder Valley community meeting, attendees will hear a summary of a proposal for an expanded fire protection district there. The plan is a possible solution to the annual shortfall between the $35 annual property owner assessment for fire protection services there and the costs of such services. This year and last the county had to inject an additional million dollars to keep the district afloat. If folded into a new, expanded fire district, property owners there will likely see the annual assessment more than quadruple to $157. Also on the agenda are announcements about positive changes in the food distribution and energy assistance programs. Tomorrow’s meeting is open to everyone and takes place at the Wonder Valley Community Center on Amboy Road. More information at WonderValley.org.
