WONDER VALLEY MAN ACCUSED OF ATTEMPTED MURDER

A Wonder Valley man was arrested early Friday morning, accused of torturing and trying to kill his girlfriend. According to the Sheriff’s Department, a neighbor heard a woman screaming about 3:30 a.m. in the 81100 block of Valley Vista Road in Wonder Valley and went to the house to investigate. The neighbor looked through a window and saw a man, later identified as Paul Blevins, 39, assaulting a woman and forced entry into the house to stop the attack. Blevins fled into the desert and was located about 5:30 a.m. by deputies about three miles away. The woman told deputies that Blevins had kicked and punched her in the face and chest about 35 times, choked her multiple times, and struck her in the head, face, and upper body multiple times with a metal flashlight. She said she lost consciousness at least three times over the several hours of the torture. Paul Blevins was arrested for investigation of attempted murder and is being held without bail for violating the terms of his post-release community supervision for failing to register as a sex offender. Blevins was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail for the attempted murder at $1 million.
