WONDER VALLEY COMMUNITY MEETING TO DISCUSS CLOSED FIRE STATION

0

Just three months after Wonder Valley residents were told their fire station was funded for 2017-18 and would remain open, Wonder Valley firefighters packed up and left the fire station on Friday, September 22. In June, County Assistant Fire Chief Tom Marshall told Wonder Valley municipal advisory council representative Teresa Sitz that the county’s fire budget included the Wonder Valley fire station, guaranteeing fire service in Wonder Valley for at least another year. However, there was a conflicting report from Battalion Chief Mike Snow who had said the fire station was being considered for possible closure, and would eventually be staffed by volunteers rather than paid firefighters. County fire representatives—as well as representatives from the Sheriff’s Department and Supervisor James Ramos’ office—will be at the monthly Wonder Valley community meeting Monday, October 2, at 10 a.m., where residents will be able to ask questions about the future of their fire station. The meeting will be held in the Wonder Valley Community Center on Amboy Road.
