Woman with warrant for arson and child abuse arrested for suspected assault in Yucca Valley

On Tuesday, (March 25) at around 8:30 p.m., San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of a woman throwing rocks at a man in the 61600 block of La Jolla Drive in Joshua Tree. Deputies say that the suspect, identified as Christina Herrera, 40, was throwing rocks at the victim, and followed him after he fled the area. One of Herrera’s family members attempted to intervene, but was also attacked by Herrera. No serious injuries were reported.

The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s offices says that Herrera had an active warrant for suspicion of burning down a home with her daughter and another person inside on March 11.

Christina Herrera was arrested on an active warrant and charges related to assault with a deadly weapon. At an arraignment on Friday (March 28), she pled not guilty to felony charges of attempted arson, assault with a deadly weapon, and willfully causing a child to suffer, and she is being held without bail.
