WOMAN STABBED IN YUCCA VALLEY SATURDAY IN CASE OF MISTAKEN IDENTITY

A Desert Hot Springs woman was stabbed in a case of mistaken identity in Yucca Valley Saturday evening, and a Joshua Tree woman is in custody. According to Sheriff’s Sergeant Matt Yost, Erica Devine was arguing with another woman in the 58600 block of Barron Drive in Yucca Valley shortly before 7 p.m. Saturday evening, when she pulled out a knife and stabbed the woman twice. The victim was taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs with a collapsed lung. Erica Devine was arrested for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with her bail set at $50,000. Devine has previous convictions for burglary, receiving stolen property, and possession of a controlled substance.
