A dog was shot and killed Thursday afternoon by a Joshua Tree woman after she said it attacked and killed one of her dogs. According to a Sheriff’s report, the woman was walking her two small dogs about 1 p.m. in the 2800 block of Foxy Flats Road when she said a pit bull attacked her dogs. She attempted unsuccessfully to fight it off. The woman, who had a concealed carry permit, pulled out her handgun and shot the dog twice, killing it. A neighbor heard the gunshots and helped the woman bring her dogs to the vet, where one died and the other remains in serious condition. Animal Control was notified and is investigating the incident.
