WOMAN INJURED WHEN SHE IS THROWN FROM A HORSE

A woman was taken to the hospital Saturday after she was thrown from her horse in Joshua Tree National Park. According to County Fire Battalion Chief Mike Snow, the woman was riding a horse with a friend on a trail near Black Rock Campground in Yucca Valley around 4 p.m. For unknown reasons, she was thrown from her horse and was unconscious for about 5 minutes. By the time firefighters and rangers reached her, she was awake, and they escorted her as she walked the half mile back to the campground. She was taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center for observation. Her friend walked the horse back to the campground.
