The proud new owner of a Kia had the surprise of her life Monday when she was stopped for driving a stolen vehicle in Twentynine Palms. About 2:15 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy stopped the driver of the Kia near Adobe Road and Two Mile Road and informed her that her car had been reported stolen. She told the deputy that she had just purchased it the day before at a Kia dealership. The deputy confirmed with the dealership’s sales manager that he had sold the car to her. The car had been reported stolen last year, and when it was recovered about six months ago, the dealership neglected to report its recovery to law enforcement officials. The deputy removed the car from the stolen vehicle database and the driver was free to go.
