WOMAN DIES FOLLOWING TWO-VEHICLE CRASH IN YUCCA VALLEY THURSDAY AFTERNOON

We have limited information about a woman who died following a two-vehicle crash in Yucca Valley Thursday afternoon. First responders were called to the crash involving two sedans at Airway Avenue and Highway 62 at 3:04 p.m. The Sheriff’s Department said the driver of an Audi sedan traveling westbound on the highway broadsided a Volkswagen traveling northbound on Airway. The male driver of one vehicle was able to get out on his own and had minor to moderate injuries. In the other vehicle were two women; firefighters helped one woman out; she also had minor to moderate injuries. Firefighters had to extricate the second woman using the Jaws of Life; she appeared alert while she was inside the car, but became unresponsive when she was placed on the gurney. Paramedics had to perform CPR on her; she was taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries. She is identified only as being 82 years old. Westbound lanes of the highway were closed for several hours during the investigation.
