Woman crossing Twentynine Palms Highway dies after being struck by multiple vehicles

A fatal vehicle versus pedestrian collision occurred on Saturday night (March 21).

According to preliminary information provided by the California Highway Patrol, they responded to a collision at around 8:50 near the intersection of Twentynine Palms Highway and Mountain View Circle in Joshua Tree. The CHP says that Susan Finn, a 42 year-old resident of Joshua Tree, was walking south across traffic lanes when she was struck by a Toyota Camry driving eastbound on the highway. The CHP says that Finn was then struck by a Honda Accord.

The CHP says that a vehicle was in the center divider, and one person was trapped under the vehicle. San Bernardino County Fire responded to assist with extricating the person from under the vehicle.

Finn sustained fatal injuries, and was pronounced dead at the scene by Morongo Basin Ambulance. The CHP says that they are not investigating alcohol or drugs as a factor in the collision.

The CHP says that lanes on Twentynine Palms Highway were closed for several hours on Saturday night as part of the investigation. The highway fully reopened just before 1:00 a.m.
