We’re off to see the Wizard at Theatre 29. Open auditions will be held for the musical “The Wizard of Oz”. Here with the casting details is Rebecca Havely…
Approximately 22 performers, ages 12 and older will be cast at “Wizard of Oz” auditions on Monday, January 15 at 6 p.m. on the Theatre 29 mainstage. Roles available include Dorothy Gale, The Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion. Mrs. Gulch doubles as the Wicked Witch and Glinda the Good Witch may double as Aunt Em. There’s also Professor Marvel who doubles as the Wizard and Uncle Henry who may double as the Oz Guard. The Jitter Bug character must be a dancer, plus there talking trees, Munchkins and Flying Monkeys. Come dressed to move and expect to read from provided scripts. Prepare one minute of a Broadway or Disney song. Please bring a CD or portable music player with the background track for your audition song. Bring known conflicts to auditions for the period January 16 through April 1, in case of a holdover weekend. No Acapella singing please and no songs from “The Wizard of Oz”. Cast members do not have to be the actual ages of the characters, but must be able to look age appropriate and act accordingly. If you have roles in mind, please indicate them on your audition form. If you do not, you will be automatically considered for all roles. Some children will be cast, be sure they are fully prepared for the audition process.
