WITHHELD BEER LEADS TO AN ATTEMPTED ASSAULT

A Landers man was arrested Sunday morning (May 2) after allegedly attempting to assault a victim with a deadly weapon. At 10 a.m., deputies responded to the 55600 block of Ruth Lane in Yucca Valley for a report that Jonathan Deyden, 42, was acting out and had broken the front window of a car and was threatening a victim with a blunt object. Deputies say that Deyden became irate after the victim refused to give him beer that the victim had purchased for Deyden. According to the report, Deyden then grabbed a golf club and threatened the victim with it by swinging it over his head, and when the victim backed away, Deyden struck the passenger side window of the victim’s truck and shattered the glass. Deyden fled the location but was later located by deputies. Jonathan Deyden was arrested for investigation of attempted assault with a deadly weapon and booked into the West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $25,000.
