WITH THREE DAYS LEFT, THREE RACES TOO CLOSE TO CALL, TWENTYNINE PALMS 4TH DISTRICT TIED

UPDATE 4;06 pm

With just three days left before election results have to be certified, three local races are still too close to call, and one is now tied. John Cole, running for re-election for city council in District 4 in Twentynine Palms, is now losing the seat to challenger Karmolette O’Gilvie by 2 votes, 344 to 346. Joshua Basin Water District has Mike Reynolds ahead of Paul Coate by 12 votes, 1,072 to 1,084. And the Morongo Unified School District’s Measure O bond, which would provide funding for school infrastructure, is inching toward the 55 percent approval rating it needs in order to pass. As of Friday’s vote count, it is at 54.92 percent. The County Registrar of Voters says there are still about 15,000 absentee and provisional votes countywide left to be counted; it’s not known how many of those votes are from the Morongo Basin, but total county voter turn-out was 58 percent. The Registrar is updating its vote count every weekday at 4 p.m. with final results due December 6. Z107.7 News will update this story after today’s count is released.
