UPDATE: WITH A NEW FIRE CHIEF, MORONGO VALLEY CSD CALLS SPECIAL MEETING SATURDAY AT 4 PM

UPDATE: THE SPECIAL MEETING HAS BEEN MOVED TO THIS SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 11, AT 4 PM

The Morongo Valley Community Services District, or CSD, has a new fire chief and at a special meeting, the district begins putting the new chief’s agenda in place. Reporter Mike Lipsitz picks up the story from here…

This week, Morongo Valley CSD General Manager Roxanne Brazell filled the open fire chief seat. Chief Gary Yearsley is wasting no time setting priorities. Yearsley comes to the district from Yermo where he has served as a director for the Yermo CSD as well as fire commissioner there. At tomorrow’s 4 p.m. special meeting, directors will discuss a job description and qualifications for the department’s number two–the deputy fire chief. Also up for discussion is Chief Yearsley’s request that the department supplement paid personnel with volunteer labor. And finally, the board will entertain some housekeeping measures before adjourning to closed session labor negotiations with Morongo Valley Professional Firefighters Local 5028. Saturday night’s meeting takes place in the Community Building’s Multipurpose Room on the edge of Morongo Valley’s Covington Park.
