When washing your hands, turn the water off while lathering up and turn the water off when brushing teeth or shaving, this saves about ten gallons a day. Plug the sink to collect just enough water— instead of running the tap water— to rinse your razor and save up to 300 gallons per month. By taking five-minute showers, or less, instead of 10 minutes showers, you can save 12.5 gallons of water with a low flow shower head, and 25 gallons with a standard five-gallon per minute shower head. Try turning off the water while washing your hair and save up to 150 gallons per month. If you keep a bucket in the shower to catch the cold water while waiting for the warmer water, you can use that water later for house plants or laundry. For the bath lovers, fill the bathtub halfway only, or less and you’ll save 12 gallons. When running a bath, plug the tub BEFORE running the water and adjust the temperature as the tub fills.
