Firefighters in Joshua Tree battled a strong wind yesterday as they fought a fire burning a garage and multiple vehicles. According to County Fire Captain Clint Marks, firefighters from Joshua Tree, Twentynine Palms, Yucca Valley, and CalFire were called at 4:02 p.m. to the 61600 block of El Coyote for a garage fire that was also burning two vehicles, an RV, and a boat. Marks said the home’s eaves were burning when firefighters arrived, but they were able to prevent the blaze from spreading into the home. The garage and vehicles, however, were a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
