WILDFIRE DANGER HIGH IN JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK

2

Joshua Tree National Park officials remind visitors and residents that there is a high risk of wildfires inside the park. The wet winter and spring have led to an abundance of vegetation that are now dried out, creating hazardous fuel conditions. Park officials warn visitors that fireworks present an unacceptable risk of fire and are prohibited inside the park. Anyone who sees fireworks in the park should immediately report it to a ranger. In addition, campfires are only permitted within established fire rings or in grills in designated campgrounds and picnic areas. As a reminder, both Twentynine Palms and Yucca Valley are offering free fireworks displays starting at 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 4.
