WILDCAT BOYS’ BASKETBALL WIN BIG OVER COACHELLA VALLEY

Friday night, the Twentynine Palms High School varsity and junior varsity boys’ basketball teams traveled to Coachella Valley for a Desert Valley League match up, with both teams returning home with big wins. Varsity won, 72-29, and junior varsity won, 66-23.

Coach Michael Usher said the varsity team maintained its first place position in the DVL, improving to 9-1 on the year.

The Wildcats continued their outstanding defensive play and balanced scoring attack, with Saiz Aguilar and Jeremiah Holmes scoring 12 each, and Josh Herne and Xavier Burns with 11 each.

Junior varsity won 66-23, and were led by Ray Thorton with 17 points and seven steals, and Izaiah Leopoldo with 14 points and three assists.

The Wildcats sit at 13-11 overall, and return home on Wednesday for Senior Night against the fourth-place Cathedral City Lions.
