WILDCAT BOYS’ BASKETBALL IN FIRST PLACE AFTER WIN WEDNESDAY

On Wednesday night the Twentynine Palms boys’ basketball team hosted the Desert Hot Springs Golden Eagles in a Desert Valley League matchup, winning 86-35 to improve to 12-11 overall and 8-1 in first place in the Desert Valley League.

Coach Michael Usher said in a game where every player scored, the junior Josh Herne led the Wildcats with 22 points and four steals. Senior Saiz had Aguilar with 16 points and five assists, and juniors Xavier Burns and Jacob Hueso with 11 each. Hueso also added 12 assists and eight steals on the night.

The Wildcats travel to Coachella Valley Friday night, before returning home next Wednesday, January 29, for Senior Night against DVL #2 Cathedral City.

The Twentynine Palms High School junior varsity Wildcats beat Desert Hot Springs, 69-31. The team was led by Q Hibler with 13 points and three steals, and Jaylen Sewell and Izaiah Leopoldo with eight. Freshman Rory Mourning made his junior varsity debut and scored seven points, collected five rebounds and had six blocks.
