WILDCAT BOYS’ BASKETBALL DEFEATS LEAGUE CHAMPIONS

Friday the Twentynine Palms High School junior varsity and varsity boys’ basketball teams traveled to Indio to play the defending Desert Valley League Champion Rajahs. Varsity won 68-50, JV 57-47.
Coach Michael Usher said after finishing last season in second place behind the host Rajahs, the Wildcats were able to take the early season command of the Desert Valley League title race with a 68-50 defeat of the defending league champions. The Wildcats continued to play swarming defense, forcing 23 turnovers and being led by Jacob Hueso with 18 points, five assists, and five steals.

Xavier Burns had 16 points and five steals, and Jeremiah Holmes with 13 points and nine rebounds.
The junior varsity team won 57-47, led by Micah Deibert with 11 points on three-of-six, shooting from three. Q Hibler scored 10 points and 11 rebounds, and PJ Horn made nine points and six rebounds.
The Wildcats have now won three games in a row to improve to 4-5 overall, and 2-0 in DVL play.
