Tuesday the Twentynine Palms High School boys’ basketball teams hosted the Coachella Valley Arabs in a Desert Valley League match. All three teams won, with varsity winning by a score of 72-15, junior varsity, 81-46, and frosh-soph, 51-44.
Varsity improved to 10-9 overall, 7-2 in Desert Valley League play, behind a strong defensive performance which held the visiting Arabs to single digit scoring in each quarter. Senior Tarion Napolean scored 13 points with four rebounds. Sophomore Izaiah Leaopoldo scored the first 14 points of his varsity career, coupled with five rebounds. The Wildcats travel to Desert Hot Springs Thursday night to play the Golden Eagles for sole possession of second place in the DVL.
Junior varsity improved to 10-4 on the season, behind a strong performance by junior Kamron Luna with 17 points and six rebounds. The frosh-soph Wildcats returned to action and maintained their undefeated season, improving to 8-0 behind sophomores Jaylen Sewell with 15 points, 16 rebounds and five steals; and Quinton Hibler with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
