In high school sports, the Twentynine Palms High School boys’ basketball teams traveled to Coachella Valley High School Thursday evening and came home with three Desert Valley League victories. Coach Michael Usher said varsity beat Coachella by a score of 78-38.
The Wildcats stretched a 15-point halftime lead to a 37-point lead after three quarters by holding the Arabs to two points in the third quarter. Junior Jaylan Bradberry scored 27 points with 10 rebounds, followed by juniors Troy Tuivaiti with 17 points and nine rebounds, and Saiz Aguilar with 16 points.
The Wildcats move to 4-2 on the year and welcome Desert Hot Springs High School to the Richard Casey memorial gymnasium Tuesday, in an early season matchup between teams undefeated in Desert Valley League play.
Junior varsity came home with a 72-27 win and improves to 4-2 on the year.
Izaiah Leopoldo scored 18 points, Israel Goldsmith had 12 points and six rebounds, and Kam Luna had 10 points and seven steals.
The frosh-soph team won by a score of 49-25.
Two players—Quinton Hibler and Jeremiah Holmes—scored eight points each, followed by seven points each from Carlos Lazo and Jaylen Sewell.
The Wildcats improve to 2-0 on the season.
