WHITTIER FELON ARRESTED IN JOSHUA TREE

A convicted felon from Whittier was arrested Thursday following a traffic stop near Copper Mountain College in Joshua Tree. Just before 8 a.m., a deputy stopped a vehicle on Highway 62 near Rotary Way. Inside the vehicle was James Cox and at least two other passengers who had misdemeanor warrants for their arrest. During a search of the vehicle, the deputy located two guns. Since Cox is a convicted felon, he is prohibited from possessing weapons. James Cox was arrested for investigation of being a felon in possession of weapons, booked into West Valley Detention Center, with his bail set at $50,000.
