54 people were arrested, and 53 illegal marijuana grow operations countywide were shut down, including eight in Twentynine Palms, during the thirty-first and thirty-second weeks of illegal marijuana grow raids. According to Sheriff’s reports, deputies and investigators from the San Bernardino County Marijuana Enforcement Team (MET) served 53 search warrants at properties in Apple Valley, Claremont, Twin Peaks, Barstow, Twentynine Palms, Lucerne Valley, Upland, Rancho Cucamonga, San Bernardino, Newberry Springs, Hesperia, Oak Hills, Pinon Hills, Phelan, Chino Hills, Rowland Heights, and Pomona from March 28 through April 10as part of Operation Hammer Strike, weeks thirty-one and thirty-two. During this time, investigators arrested 54 suspects and eradicated 321 greenhouses, including 20 indoor locations. Deputies seized 82,116 marijuana plants, 7,496 pounds of processed marijuana, 4,421 grams of concentrated marijuana, 16 grams of methamphetamine, 2,268 grams of Psilocybin mushrooms, and over $204,000 in cash. Investigators also mitigated one electrical bypass, three THC extraction labs, and recovered one stolen motorcycle.
The raids came as a result of numerous complaints received regarding large outdoor marijuana cultivations in the areas. The suspects were cited or booked on charges of cultivation of cannabis, over six plants, possession for sales of marijuana, illegal water discharge, manufacturing a controlled substance, utility theft, and conspiracy.
