The annual Relay for Life goes from 9 a.m. Saturday, April 13, and lasts until a 9 a.m. Sunday morning Closing Ceremony at the Yucca Valley High School Track. At that time participants will have been there for the cause for 24 hours. Various themed laps will add interest and comic relief during the long night. The relay starts off with the survivor and caregiver laps, then moves into fun laps. Team members should bring costumes and supplies from home for the themed laps, some of which are: cowboy/western; Hawaiian/beach wear; best use of duct tape; cartoon character; gymnastic ribbon; Backwards walk; Super Hero; Dance; Relay Queen (Okay men, bring your feminine side—gowns, heels, pantyhose, and make-up); pajama; wig; 3-legged race; toga; sports team; bed head; crazy hat; chicken dance; and holiday. The last themed lap of the relay will be the Fight Back lap.
