After a 36-hour closure, Amboy Road is officially reopen to travelers in both directions. The Sheriff’s department was notified around 9 p.m. Wednesday (July 21) that flooding and heavy winds had caused numerous downed power poles and electric wires in the salt flat area of Amboy Road. The CHP arrived on scene and blocked the road in both directions as several dozen vehicles from Southern California Edison descended on the location to conduct repairs. On Friday at 9 a.m., the CHP officially announced the road had reopened in both directions.
