WEED SHOW CATEGORIES ANNOUNCED

The Twentynine Palms Historical Society will honor the late Huell Howser and his popular television show, “California Gold,” with the theme for its 2013 Weed Show. “Twentynine Palms Gold” will feature physical and historical landmarks in the weed show categories. Sugar Bowl is the museum-quality purple glass; Sheep Hole Pass is broken purple glass; 29 Palms Art Gallery is one of two miniature categories—the 6x6x6 inch size. The other miniature category—3x3x3—is called Chocolate Drop. Four Corners is a category for compositions that include an item associated with travel or transportation. The Old Schoolhouse category includes an educational accessory. An item used in everyday life must be a part of compositions in the Historic Plaza category. Oasis of Mara/Joshua Tree National Park must use an element related to these areas. Gold Park must include a mining accessory or the color gold. Oversized compositions go in the Condor Field/Marine Corps Base category. This year there are two categories for children; ages 8 and under are in the Knott’s Sky Park and must include something used in play; and ages 9 to 12 are in Luckie Park must use any accessory from any of the other categories.
