The Morongo Basin Historical Society will continue its second Wednesday lecture series on January 9 with a presentation about the folklore and legend of Giant Rock in Landers. Reporter Andrew Dieleman has your invitation to learn more about this Morongo Basin landmark…
History interpreter Barbara Harris has researched the 7-story, 25,000 ton granite boulder known as Giant Rock for more than 30 years and is known for her lectures and tours to Giant Rock at Contact in the Desert. She will be sharing a condensed version of her years of research that include the boulder’s geology, Frank Critzer’s story, George Van Tassel’s spacecraft conventions, and the building of the Integratron. There is a recommended donation of $5 per person. The lecture will be held on January 9 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Cholla Room of the Yucca Valley Community Center, 57090 Twentynine Palms Highway in Yucca Valley.
