It’s a sad day Friday, May 28, at Z107.7 Radio as we say good-bye to a long-time employee. After 14 years as a reporter and the managing editor, Tami Roleff is retiring…
I started at Z107.7 News in May 2007 as a reporter who was hired out of Gary’s ROP class, and in May 2011, I became managing editor when Karl Gardner retired.
During my years here, I’ve covered just about every government organization in the Morongo Basin, and many, many human interest stories. I won my first Golden Mike award in 2012 for covering the story of a Landers man who was lost in desert for nine days. My second Golden Mike in 2020 was about a military exercise with the British at the Combat Center.
I’ve also covered Governor Schwarzenegger coming to the base for Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day, and First Lady Jill Biden’s visit to the base earlier this year.
It will be hard to leave the radio station, as Gary, Cindy, Cody, Sara, Andrew, Cassidy, and all the reporters have become good friends. They’re my work family and I will miss them, and I’ll miss meeting listeners out in the community.
But, I won’t be spending my retirement watching TV and eating bon-bons; I’ll be busy with my new golden retriever puppy!
