Rock icon Eric Burdon is selling his Joshua Tree home for a cool $889,000. Z107.7 Reporter David Haldane took the tour and tells what a rock star’s abode offers…
The first things you notice about Eric Burden’s house are the stone alligators guarding its gate. There are more oddities inside: vintage concert posters, songwriting hieroglyphics and, on at least one recent tour, a live rattlesnake curled up in a bathroom.
Not so surprising, perhaps, for the home of the iconic singer/songwriter, now 74, whose British rock band, the Animals, sang House of the Rising Sun.
“It’s a piece of the desert. Everything you have here is custom made. I feel a really really cool vibe.”
That’s James Guillermo, the agent who’s selling this Joshua Tree gem. Sitting on two-and-a-half acres, the 3,500-square-foot house has wrap-around desert views, meditation spaces and a heated saltwater pool.
Mostly, Guillermo says, it has the spirit of the man who built it in 2007 and lived here until last year. For just $889,000, you could, too. He promises to remove the rattlesnake before escrow closes.
