The current production running now at Theatre 29 is the Oscar Wilde comedy, “An Ideal Husband.” Co-directors Butch Pelfrey and Tom Highfill spoke with reporter Rebecca Havely at Theatre 29 about the play and co-directing…
Z107.7: I’m here at Theatre 29 with co-directors Butch Pelfry and Tom Highfill. Butch, how many shows have you done here at Theatre 29?
Pelfry: This will be number ten.
Z107.7: How many have you done with Tom?
Pelfry: Tom, I think, has been involved in at least eight.
Z107.7: This time you both decided to co-direct the play. Why?
Pelfry: Primarily because it’s such a detailed play, it is such an onion if you will, there’s so many layers to it.
Z107.7: As co-directors, how did you split up the responsibilities?
Pelfry: Mostly if I don’t want to do it I say, hey, Tom, this seems like a good job for you. (Tom laughs) It’s strictly a 50/50 thing.
Z107.7: Can you tell us what the play is about?
Pelfry: It’s about a politician who got where he is by being crooked, ripped from today’s headlines.
Z107.7: Thank you Butch Pelfry and Tom Highfill. For Z107.7 news, from the fabulous set of the Oscar Wilde comedy, “An Ideal Husband,” this is reporter Rebecca Havely.
