WE SPEAK TO A DEPLOYED MARINE IN AFGHANISTAN

It’s a brave Marine who admits he’s not perfect. Corporal Luke Frank, an admin clerk with Regimental Combat Team-7, currently deployed to Camp Leatherneck in Afghanistan, offered up an unusual most memorable moment to managing editor Tami Roleff during an interview last week…

“My most memorable moment here would be the mistakes I’ve made, I grew from the mistakes I made, and there are many. I learned a great deal because of them, to double check my work. And that right there is something I will never forget.” Corporal Luke Frank, 20, hates making mistakes, which he says is maybe one reason why he likes to use ink pens when he works on his abstract drawings. “When I use my pens you can’t be prone to making mistakes. Every line you make with the pen it needs to be perfect or else your drawing will not be perfect in your eyes. Same goes for being an administrator, I look at the small details. I believe that’s why I choose pens for my media of choice, because it doesn’t allow errors.” Frank credits his stepmother, who’s raised him since he was in the fifth grade, for making him the man he is today. “I’ve tried to be the best man I can be for my stepmother.” I think she would be proud of Corporal Luke Frank.
