WE REVIEW, “MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS” AT THEATRE 29

“Meet Me In St. Louis” opened last weekend at Theatre 29 to enthusiastic crowds. The Smiths have a son and four daughters; this is their story at the turn of the century on the brink of the St. Louis world fair. Entertainment Reporter Rebecca Havely attended, and offers this review of the
production…
Mr. and Mrs. Smith are portrayed by Theatre 29 veteran actors Dennis “Easy” Boos and Katie Fleischman. Boos is charming in his big song “A Day in New York.” Their eldest Lon is played by James Hodgson. Their four delightful daughters are all extremely well cast. The youngest Tootie is played with gusto by young talent Zoee Stoker. Anna Pollnow is perfect in her role with a delightful voice in the role of daughter Agnes. Eldest daughter Rose is played by Kegan Longuevan who possesses a lovely voice and stage presence. Drea Kelley as Esther Smith leads the big musical with her talents. She makes you want to fall in love with the “Boy Next Door” and “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.” Joined by the beautiful operatic vocals of Randy Smith, as her love interest John Truitt. Kurt Schauppner as Grandpa adds a touch of laughter, and Kelly Ames adds “A Touch of the Irish” as the family’s maid. The show boasts delightful choreography by Lisa Goldberg, gorgeous period costumes and a lovely set all helmed by award winning artistic and musical director Kathryn Ferguson. This big old fashioned musical will have the whole family humming its familiar tunes.
“Meet Me in St Louis” will run weekends through December 17 Friday and Saturday nights at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are from $8 To $15 and may be purchased on line at theatre29.org or call the Theatre 29 box office at 760-361-4151.
