“Disney’s Mary Poppins” opened last weekend to enthusiastic crowds of all ages at Theatre 29. Reporter Rebecca Havely attended and offers this review of the production…
Analisa Pilecki’s portrayal of Mary Poppins is practically perfect in every way! Chris Fleischman is better than ever as Mary’s buddy Bert, the chimney sweep. The Banks family led by George Banks, well played by Dennis “Easy” Boos and Mrs. Banks by Katie Van Sumeren, seek a new nanny for their children Jane and Michael, wonderfully played by Grace Prograis and Logan Phelps. Sarabeth Matilsky plays a quirky store owner in my favorite number, “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.” Other ensemble standouts include: the Park Keeper played by Teresa Mizusawa, Cindy Daigneault as the housekeeper Mrs. Brill and Lisa Goldberg as the bird lady. The costume design by Kathryn Ferguson is award-worthy. The direction by Gary Daigneault, musical direction by Bill Barrett and rousing choreography by Daniela Jara make for a magical production the entire family will enjoy.
