Seven young women have been working hard for months preparing for the Miss Yucca Valley scholarship pageant. The Rotary Club sponsored event will be held on Saturday, February 3 at 6:00 p.m. at the Joshua Springs Thunderdome in Yucca Valley. Today reporter Andrew Dieleman introduces us to candidate Kylie Taylor…
Today we visit with Kylie Taylor, a junior at Yucca Valley High School and candidate for Miss Yucca Valley. Hi Kylie. Tell us, who is the prominent woman you’ve been mentoring with and what you have learned?
“The prominent woman that I interviewed is Sandy Moody. I have learned so much from her, like how sometimes you have to be your own driving force if there is something that you really want to do. She taught me that, that no matter the obstacle or the hardships you were born into, you can make it as far as you want to in this world.”
What have you learned from your experience with Miss Yucca Valley?
“In my experience with Miss Yucca, I have learned most of all to think positively, to work hard, and to understand the value of what it really means to be a good person. I truly believe that Miss Yucca has taught me compassion and definitely how to step out of my comfort zone with so many people that I barely knew a few weeks ago. I believe, as I move on with this experience, that it will allow me to grow more as a person.”
Any final words?
“I want to thank my family, my mom especially, for encouraging me to take part in this experience. Thank you for always believing in me and being the driving force in my life.”
