The annual Miss Yucca Valley scholarship pageant is set for Saturday, February 3, at 6:00 p.m. at the Thunderdome at Joshua Springs Calvary Chapel. The annual event, sponsored by the Yucca Valley Rotary Club, will see seven high school juniors competing in a contest based on academics
and poise. Today Reporter Andrew Dieleman introduces us to contestant Carley Price…
Today we visit with Carley Price, a junior at Yucca Valley High School and candidate for Miss Yucca Valley. Hi Carley. Tell us, who is the prominent woman you’ve been mentoring with and what you have learned…
“The woman I interviewed was Renu Idnani. One thing she has shown me is to always give respect; therefore, you are given respect because respect
is a two-way street. I definitely think that this quote will stay with me when meeting new people or speaking to people in general. Another thing that Renu taught me is to always expand on what you know, as it will give yourself increased potential.”
What have you learned from your experience with Miss Yucca Valley?
“Since the Miss Yucca Pageant has begun, I’ve experienced meeting new people and I have made friendships that I can certainly see continuing to
have in the future. I also learned to focus on, and to become more involved in, the community. The current Miss Yucca Valley court has shown me how to be understanding, kind, involved, and to have a purpose in life.”
Any final words?
I wish to say thank you to everyone who has supported me, including my family, John, Shelden, and Tara. Thank you to the Yucca Valley Rotary
Club and to the current Miss Yucca Valley court. Good luck to the rest of the girls, thank you for everything.
