Today we visit with Katlynne Wells, a junior at Yucca Valley High School and candidate for Miss Yucca Valley. Who is the prominent woman you interviewed, and what did you learn from her?
“My prominent woman is Jennifer Camp, a dental hygienist at Dr. Sheldon Hough’s dental practice. When I interviewed her, I could tell that she had faced obstacles before reaching where she is today. She taught me that despite the obstacles life throws at you, with determination, and even family support, you can overcome the obstacles and succeed in life.”
What have you learned from your experience with Miss Yucca Valley?
“With Miss Yucca Valley I have learned how to put first things first, to put my thoughts into words, speak confidently, and that it is okay to stand up for myself. Before Miss Yucca Valley, I could barely look anyone in the eye. With each day I gain more confidence in myself.”
Any final words?
“I just want to say that the Miss Yucca Valley Pageant is an amazing experience and I encourage all and any sophomore girls that will be juniors next year to do Miss Yucca. Whether you want to break out of your shell, conquer your fear of public speaking, or just want to find some friends, do Miss Yucca. You won’t regret it.”
