This clarification and correction today on a story we ran on January 11. In the story we reported that a Twentynine Palms business, a miniature golf course and Go-Kart track on Adobe Road, had been served a cease-and-desist order by the City of Twentynine Palms for doing remodeling and repair work at the location without permits; that information was not correct. According to Twentynine Palms City Manager Frank Luckino, Code Enforcement and Building Department staff served a stop-work order to determine if the work required permits. Luckino said the city had three issues: raising the height of an existing sign on the property; a block wall to address drainage issues; and grading on the site. The owner of the property, Minh Cong Dang, subsequently met with city officials. He agreed to place the sign at its originally permitted height, bringing it into compliance. The block wall was also adjusted to a height that did not require engineering or permits, and the volume of dirt used for the grading was found to be within permissible limits. As a result, all of the city’s issues were found to be in compliance and work has resumed. Z107.7 News regrets and apologizes for any inconvenience caused by the incorrect information.
