The Way Station in Joshua Tree, along with employees from Hi-Desert Medical Center, distributed free food—including more than 460 turkeys—to residents of the Morongo Basin yesterday. It’s estimated the food boxes, which included fresh vegetables, stuffing, and canned goods, will provide meals to about 2,000 residents.
Pastor Dennis Potter of the Way Station said “Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful, and we’re thankful for these people. That’s why we do what we do. It’s great to be able to bless people with a lot of good food and a wonderful day.”
Hi-Desert Medical Center CEO Karen Faulis said hospital employees were happy to help. “It’s our sincere pleasure to give our time to the kind people at The Way Station, who are doing great work to see that all members of our community have a nice meal on Thanksgiving.”
